A sweet revival… All things considered, Neil Simon is a marvelous playwright with an extraordinary resume.  Namely, a popular favorite, Barefoot in the Park , first appeared on Broadway in 1963 starring Robert Redford and Elizabeth Ashley.  Later in the decade on May 25, 1967, it debuted in theaters starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. Even though some of us were too young or not yet born, it is a classic romantic comedy and decades later, people continue to enjoy the display of humor in the newlyweds’ relationship.

Audio Book Review ‘The Forgotten Room’ by Lincoln Child

Imagine: tasting color, seeing sound, and hearing food; euphoria or a window into Hell? The Forgotten Room is modern day science fiction mingling with the paranormal. This is my first Lincoln Child book; my initial reaction is wow-what a unique writer. A lover of fine flowing literature done well, I’m in awe of his no-nonsense style of writing, so tightly suffused with an intellectual peculiarity that drives the premise like a well-tuned machine, simply said: the author’s skill is effectively eccentric, much like the cast of science minded characters in the novel.

Audio Book Review: 'Condominium' by John D. MacDonald with an Introduction by Dean Koontz

Author John D. MacDonald gave us fabulous pieces of literature The Executioners better known today as Cape Fear , and many others along with over twenty Travis McGee novels. Perhaps, John D. is the greatest modern day novelist. Many of today’s best-selling authors boast of his influence on their career. Dean Koontz has often referred to him with remarkable admiration and praise. Demonstrating this is the interesting tribute he wrote about the author in the foreword of the paperback edition of Condominium . Grant it, Koontz did not say much specifically about the novel he was seemingly endorsing, but who would think differently? Probably no one would question his true feelings until he did the introduction on the audio version of the same book where we learn Dean Koontz did not like it quite as much as most of us concluded. The audio version features Dean Koontz saying as much in his own words.

The author conveys a simple, calm as she paints a gorgeous picturesque parallel between earth from her physical point on the map and the makings of our individuality. To demonstrate, the prairie of South Dakota represents the macrocosm for the spiritual self. Free of dogma, it is a beautifully written spiritual guide for self-exploration, the images and lessons are brilliantly simple, yet complex in their representation.

Crock Pot Apple Butter

Crock Pot Apple Butter INGREDIENTS SERVINGS 32 YIELD 4 pints 5 1⁄2 lbs apples , peeled and finely chopped (I use 3-4 different types of apples) 4 cups sugar 2 -3 teaspoons ground cinnamon 1⁄4 teaspoon ground cloves 1⁄4 teaspoon salt   Place apples in a large bowl. Combine sugar, cinnamon, cloves and salt. Pour over apples and mix well. Place in crock pot, cover and cook on high for 1 hour. Decrease heat to low; cover and cook on low for 9-11 hours or until thickened and dark brown. Stir occasionally. Uncover and cook on low for 1 hour longer. If desired, whisk until smooth. Spoon into freezer containers, leaving 1/2-inch head space. Cover and freeze.
